Rudall Carte 1867-patent system

> modern pitch A=440

> cocuswood with silver keywork

> excellent condition

> serviced ready for sale

This 1867-patent system flute plays at modern pitch A=440. With excellent keywork and wood, the flute has been fully prepared and serviced in our workshop ready for sale. We have replaced one of the thumb pads, otherwise the present soft pads do a good job and the flute plays easily.

The flute, dating from 1903, has survived in excellent condition. The wooden body and footjoint have no cracks. The silver-lined headjoint, with an old repaired hairline that does not affect playing, performs particularly well. There is no lateral play in the mechanism. All the connections that give the various alternative fingerings are in place.

The 1867-patent system is very versatile and gives an evenness across the registers that the Boehm cannot match. In many ways it was the ultimate development of the keyed flute. Today, many players today are rediscovering this comprehensive system.

We have serviced the flute ready for sale. It comes in its original case.
