Arthur Haswell Flute Repairs
Louis Lot ring-key conical Boehm-system dating from 1892. Cocuswood with plated keys, closed G#, and rare B-foot.
This lovely and rare flute is in excellent mechanical condition. The wood of both body and foot is in excellent order and the keywork is crisp and plating good. At some point a new embouchure hole was cut in the headjoint on the opposite side to the original one - this was nicely done, possibly by Louis Lot themselves, being a fairly common procedure to enable flutes to play at a slightly higher pitch. Playing qualities remain unchanged and the expense of buying a new headjoint was avoided. The instrument has been restored to good playing order by French early flute specialist Claire Soubeyran.
This very special flute plays beautifully with all the lyrical warmth one would expect. Period pitch is at A=435.
